Knit toys need different care. A cold damp cloth will take care of some dirt, but if it needs to be washed then hand wash only, and dry in a well ventilated environment for at least a day. Squeezing the water out will not hurt the stuffed animal, take care to reshape it before it dries fully to maintain shape.
